Caveman Sketches

It's DrawerGeeks Friday! Topic is 'caveman'. How could you not have fun with this? Anyway, I did two different sketches. One slightly experimental - painting with textures in photoshop, and another ballpoint sketch.

Unwanted Visitor

I had a sketch of this guy's head lying around for about a month. Finally found the inspiration to do something with it. Tried building up colour a little more slowly this time, which made for some interesting hue shifts. It definitely felt a bit different to me, so I think I learned something worthwhile.

Older One

I seem to be slowing down with my blogging for some reason...and I don't like that. So to fill the gap, here's a caricature of Mr. Bean that I did last year. I'll get going on some new stuff!

Memory Sketch

This was a scene that I passed by a few nights ago at a nearby park. I decided to quickly burn as much information as I could into my brain and attempt to recall the scene later on. Always a humbling excersize...I crashed and burned on my first attempt. What you see here is my second attempt, done the next night.

Work Doodles

Done in ballpoint. These sketches are done mostly on breaks at work. Either while saving large files, or when my eyes just can't bear to look at the monitor any more.

Some Figures

Took last month off life drawing...back this week. Felt a little more recharged, actually. Sometimes time off helps.

Back To Blogging!

Happy New Year! Things have settled back down, and I'm glad to get back into the blog ring. This is a Christmas gift I made for two of my younger cousins. They both like this particular story, which originally has no illustrations. I illustrated it for them, featuring 10 different animals holding each other up on pieces of string. Medium is watercolour (the string itself is real). The book is bound so that it can fold out, revealing the whole chain. My cousins really liked it, which made me happy!
