The challenges of painting plein air are great enough during the best of conditions, but in the winter, you gotta be a real sucker for punishment. There is one nice part though...you don't decide when your painting is finished - the frost bite does.
Thanks guys, Rawls - the top one was done this past Wednesday (the painting is sitting here in front of me, and is still wet!) But it was only 0 degrees on Wednesday, so it was fine for about 30 minutes. Jason - Snow is incredibly fun to paint. Its local value makes for easy comparisons, and fun design opportunities. Definitely worth bringing your plein air gear if you ever go on a trip to a colder climate.
Hi Marco, your work is outsdanding. Everything is very well done, your website is terrific, your plein air paintings are awesome. If you don't mind, I'll link your blog. All the best for you!
Thanks for sharing challenging experience with us.
I feel little jealous about the way you artists are managing to live this wonderful life. (we are really trying to survive and not able to do what we want )
I second Mike, you are hard core for being out in that cold, but nice work! Do you know of Collin Page's work in the New England area? He just published a book through Blurb.
Hey Mike, Yeah, seems like after about 10 minutes the paint starts resembling wet cement. Gotta load up on the medium! David - Hmmm, no I haven't heard of Collin Page at all. I will look him up, thanks!
