Memory Sketch

I drive by a small forest every morning on my way to work. Always have been intrigued by how abstract, yet still completely "readable" it is at a quick glance. This speed sketch is an effort to recall the scene from memory today during lunch.

  1. Thats a good point. Something things when analysed are very abstract yet we recognise them instantly. I think you captured it well!

  4. Cool Marco. I like the way you attempted to relay the dense interweaving branches. A good point as well, I often forget to enjoy the beauty that sits just outside of my office windows.

  6. Hey thanks guys.
Jason, it's from memory, yes, but if I were to compare this to the real scene that I saw, there would be significant differences. But what (hopefully) is the same is the feeling of the scene. That's what I was after, anyway. I'll see how accurate I was on Monday when I drive by this again :)
Scott Christensen really helped me with this kind of thing.

  12. Really great work here! It's always refreshing to see a concept artist who still knows how to hold a brush for a change. Cheers.
