Here's the final. I fumbled around for awhile trying to find some sort of appropriate colour scheme. I wound up keeping the palette somewhat analagous, as a change of pace. The circle in the background is completely stolen from Leyendecker/Rockwell.
Awesome! This was my fav DG this week. You did the drawing proud. I especially like the ambient lighting. Her face kinda flattens out on her left side, no?
Hey thanks guys! Mark - good catch. I think you're right. I had a few problems with the head at this angle. I was determined not to use any reference on it though, to see where I would come up short. Now it's time to do some real studying of a head at this angle.
cool stuff. i dont think something as simple as a circle can be "stolen" i mean plenty of people did that for hundreds of years before Leyendecker did it (and Rockwell copied it);)
Beautiful. I love the softness of it. It's funny, I've been seeing more and more Rockwell-esque paintings lately everywhere. I guess the greats just never die!!!

Hey Marco,
This is an excellent picture.
I like the pose and character design, it reminds me of a Vaughin Bode style girl.
I like the loose feel to the colours and the great expression on the little dude in the romper suit.
Can't wait to see more of this type of work.
Turned out brilliant!
